silly concept art

no it's not really concept art...but it will probably end up in a painting somehow in some form.  The planet models are from cinema4dtutorial.net and are really impressive.  I like how in computer 3d space, scale is so irrelevant.   Earth looks so impressive in front of the space background and then when importing another model, like a box of popcorn, it's just as big as the planet.

A few pages from my Blue Button entry

A few pages of my entry for the challenge.gov VA Health Report re-design project...was a lot of work to try to fit into my regular work schedule, but it was fun to do anyhow.    I only managed to finish about half of the report.

3d heart models

Renders from a 3d model of a heart I've been working on...had some help for textures and lighting from Greyscalegorilla.  Although I guess proper technique is to use squares for the mesh, I couldn't always get the form/edges I wanted without some triangles.  Maybe it's like drawing where you have guidelines for how to do something but the technique isn't the only issue.   I like waiting for the render to show up...it's like working on a painting and having that moment when something is forming.

Tea short film

Thought it might be fun to edit a short film about making a cup of tea...

ad sketches

my silly ad parodies...not sure why I bother making these things, but they're kind of fun to do.  So far the Bic parody one was the most fun; especially trying to get it to look like a 1978 ad.

Some practice with vector art

This was drawn a long time ago, and I wanted to color it, but couldn't figure out how to do it until I tried again recently.  It was meant as an image perhaps for a children's picture book.  I have a few other drawings which I'll probably be practicing as well.

BU Thesis Show Books

These are books that were produced for our seminar class.  They were meant as an artist's version of the typical gallery binder (with artist's statement, CV, etc.).  There were no specifications for the book though it was suggested that we use photocopies to create the book and that we make enough for our classmates and some of our professors.

Trip to Wingate and Richard Ryan's

Some photos from a trip to Wingate Studio and Richard Ryan's open studio / BBQ.  The day started out with a somewhat dreary sky, but the weather turned out beautiful later on.  The harsh winter last year, I think, left all of the grass brown the last time I went out here.  Wingate had some prints out from Richard's Barbados etchings which accompanied a poem by Frederick Seidel.  There were also portfolios of prints by Robert Motherwell, Louise Bourgeois, Wayne Thiebaud, and some more recent ones by Aaron Noble.  Richard has been doing softly contrasting gray landscape paintings lately, though the gourd still life setup was there from last year.
